Osa is my heart dog. She has been challenging but everything I have put into her has come back to me tenfold. She has taken classes in Basic obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Herding, Agility, Agility, and More Agility.

Osa was first purchased by a sedentary older couple in North Carolina from a "breeder" selling puppies at the flea market. At the age of 8 months, they decided that she was too much dog and that they were going to take her to the county shelter. My vet asked me if I knew anyone looking for an Aussie...

Osa has taught me about shy/fearful dogs, energetic dogs, the importance of being a consistent and decisive leader in a multi dog household, how to work with leash reactivity toward other dogs, how to address stranger anxiety and fear based aggression, and the importance of early and thorough socialization toward all types of people, especially men in hats with facial hair and glasses!

Taiko
Border Collie
Born 12/24/2004, neutered male

AKC Titles: NA, NAJ, OA, CGC

USDAA Titles: SAM, AAD, AS, AJ, AG, ASA, AR, AD, SR, SSA, SS, SG, SJ

NADAC Titles: NCC, OCC, NJC, OJC, EJC, NAC, OAC, EAC, TG-N, TG-O, TN-N, TN-O, WV-N, WV-O, HP-N

CPE Titles: CL1-R, CL1-H, CL1-S, CL1-F, CL1, CL2-R

Taiko was bred by a farmer in North Carolina on some bad advice from a herding trainer. The farmer was ill prepared for the results, and ended up with 8 puppies that were poorly socialized, full of parasites, unvaccinated, and without homes. A friend of mine was friends with the farmer and ended up with a puppy in trying to help the farmer out. The puppy, however, was trying to wrestle with her toy poodles with too much enthusiasm. She told me, "I don't know what to do with this dog." I did! He was a foster dog for approximately 20 minutes before I decided he was here to stay!

Taiko is a smooth coated tricolor border collie from herding lines. He has taken classes in basic obedience, Canine Good Citizen and Agility. He has taught me how to work with dogs that are not food motivated, how to build toy drive, and how to manage strong herding instinct. His nickname is The Noodle, and his favorite reward after an agility run is to solicit attention from spectators, especially ladies!

Toshi
Jack Russell Terrier
Born ~12/20/2000, neutered male

AKC Titles: CGC

Toshi was adopted from the Humane Society for Seattle/King County on the 16th of December 2006. He arrived there as a transfer from another rescue organization, and little is known of his history. I was searching for a small dog to add to our pack, as I had developed an affection for them during dog sitting and fostering chihuahua and terrier mixes. Toshi has taken classes in basic obedience, Canine Good Citizen and Agility.

Toshi is honing my timing during training (those little guys are fast!), teaching me how to deliver reinforcement to an 11 inch tall canine, and keeping me on my toes in true terrier fashion! He would love to do Earthdog, but alas his person prefers agility. His best trick is to jump straight up in the air on the cue, "Pogo!" He is nicknamed the Football, likes to sleep under the covers, and chases a soccer ball after running agility.

Buoy
Australian Shepherd
Born 6/28/08, spayed female

AKC Titles: CGC

Buoy is my first firsthand dog. Her registered name is McFinley's Rising Joy. I chose to get a puppy from a breeder because I wanted the structure, temperament, socialization and training for a dog to be capable of and enjoy jobs including agility, presentations at children's camps, work with dog aggressive dogs, and as a CGC neutral dog. I chose Deb Dulaney and McFinley Aussies because Deb does Elbow, Hip, Eye, Heart and MDR gene screenings on all of her dogs and performs early socialization and structural evaluations at 8 weeks with all of her puppies. I'm sure I will be lucky to have rescue dogs in my future, but I'm also so happy to have Buoy in my family; she is everything I hoped she would be and more.

Buoy is a bundle of energy and intelligence! She has taken classes in basic obedience, Canine Good Citizen and Agility. She is tolerant and affectionate with my toddler son, and greets him after every nap with full body wags and kisses. Her nickname is Boo, and she has a move where she holds a toy in her mouth and rolls onto her back to play with it with her paws. We call it the ""Baby Otter."

Kenai
Australian Shepherd/Beagle mix (??)
Born ~5/15/2000, neutered male

AKC Titles: CGC

After a heartbreaking and life-threatening series of conflicts between Osa and Kenai, Kenai has gone to live with dear friends who adore him and cherish him as the only dog he prefers to be. This wrenching experience taught me to recognize and respond to early signs of dog/dog conflict in the home, and to protect the family you already have even when foster dogs are in desperate need.

Kenai is my renaissance dog. He has taken classes in Basic obedience, Competition obedience, Rally obedience, Tricks, Canine Acting, Agility, Flyball, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog and Herding.

Kenai was found by a woman when he was 12 weeks old, wandering along a street in a town in North Carolina. He was malnourished, full of worms, and mangy. She nursed him back to health, and we adopted him. He has taught me about the advantages of positive reinforcement based training, how to train a great recall, how to address resource guarding, and the importance of dog-dog socialization.
