MONique Feyrecilde: ARE YOU… REALLY READY?
Better Prepare animals for veterinary and Grooming procedures
Cooperative Veterinary Care (and grooming!) Workshop
Monique Feyrecilde, Veterinary Technician Specialist in Behavior and experienced small animal clinical veterinary technician will be helping you up your training game for real-life veterinary care scenarios. Using a combination of training specific behaviors and presenting common veterinary procedures in a step-by-step way, Monique helps trainers and pet caregivers better prepare animals for veterinary visits.
In this workshop we will cover:
Restraint and Stabilization. Veterinary professionals are taught a number of common stabilization strategies to use with your pet. Learn these positions and strategies to better prepare your pet before they see these strategies in the veterinary office.
Positioning and Presentation. The veterinary team needs to access different parts of your pet's body for successful care. Learn how to help dogs present their bodies in a way that reduces stress and increases the quality of veterinary care (and grooming!)
Touch Gradient. Comfort with touch is a crucial ingredient for successful veterinary care. Learn how to create a Body Map of your dog, and how this information helps with grooming, veterinary care, and general handling.
Fancy or simple. When to use fancy trained behaviors vs. when it's not appropriate to use consent-based/start button structures.
