Polite leash walking
Make every walk around the block something to look forward to
Polite walking on leash is an important skill. A dog that walks without pulling is a joy & easier to take on fun outings. Puppies without existing bad habits & adult dogs who are well-practiced pullers can benefit from this hour-long workshop. We'll cover choosing walking equipment, how to start, next steps, management & setting up for success.
Prerequisites: Dogs must be able to take food in new environments & comfortably work within 10ft of other dogs/people without excessive barking.
What to bring:
-Your dog! Preferably hungry and having been given a potty break prior to class.
-flat buckle collar and/or body harness. Please no prong collars or slip/choke collars.
-one 6ft leash and one longer leash, between 8ft and 20 ft long. Please no flexi/retractable leashes.
-treat pouch. A fanny pack, climber’s chalk bag, or hardware apron will work well too!
-treats! At least 2 cups of tiny, pea-sized delicious treats. Your treats need to be more exciting than the environment, so hot dogs, ham, and cheese all work well. PLEASE USE NON-CRUMBLY TREATS. Dropped treats are very distracting for dogs training after you.
